Updating municipality border

PublicStuff uses US Census GIS data to create municipal boundaries for US clients, and the World Bank’s World DataBank to create boundaries for international clients. We recognize that municipal boundaries change over type and support updates to these boundaries.

Users can verify municipal borders by reviewing Reports in PublicStuff Pro, and clicking on the Map pin

Municipal borders can be adjusted by following the procedure below:

  1. Create a KMZ or KML file of the new border. It should contain a single multi-polygon, and should be under 500 kb. The smaller the boundary file is, the better, since geographic data is often sent to or from mobile applications over wireless networks, where small file size is a top priority to ensure a positive user experience.
  2. Upload the KMZ file to as a new filter
    1.  Click the Boundaries dropdown on the upper left of the map and click Add Custom Boundary.
    2. Click Import.

    3. Choose the file

    4. Update the layer with a descriptive Name.

    5. Click Save.

  3. Once it is saved, go to Manage Settings > Admin, choose the correct boundary from Client Boundary. Click Save to update. You might need to refresh your pages a few times to see the new boundary reflected.
